When we think of Charlottesville we picture the Historic Downtown Mall, eclectic boutiques, big concerts, intimate theatres, delicious dining, the Rotunda, rolling horse pastures, vineyards and beautiful Blue Ridge views. We are so lucky to call such an amazing community home! We all stayed or moved to Charlottesville because of how special it is, and it is the local businesses, run by our neighbors, that give this town its cool vibe.
Local business owners keep our community strong by reinvesting their profits back into the community, by bringing unique flavor to our lives, and by keeping our carbon footprints small. This new publication is in honor of enterprising businesses and people who work every day to help you find high-quality artisanal foods, wines and wares and services that make Charlottesville the wonderful place it is today.
When you have a choice, consider buying local. If half the employed population spent $50 each month in a locally owned, independent businesses, more than $42.6 billion in revenue would be generated. * At home in our city and county, that translates to $1.5 million in revenue. Small changes can add up to a big impact.
We raise a toast to American enterprise and to our local small businesses who, like us, are proud to work for our community. After 14 years, Ivy Publications employs 17 wonderful people — our friends and neighbors — and we hope you will support other local businesses found within the pages of Locally Charlottesville who would like to meet you.
